She is currently an Associate Professor and the Director, Center for Human Therapeutics cGMP Facility and Research Director of Immunotherapy Product Development at the University of Virginia Cancer Center. As a Director, she facilitates the scientific, strategic and operational directions for the preclinical and clinical immunotherapy research.
Dr. Thakur earned her Ph.D. degree from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, India, studying the mechanisms of innate immune factors interactions with malarial infection for therapeutic intervention. She did her post-doctoral fellowship at the Institute of Medical Microbiology & Infectious Immunology, Free University, Berlin, Germany, studying the role of cell mediated immune responses in bacterial gastroenteritis. She has been a featured speaker at many national and international conferences and published more than 100 research articles in the peer reviewed journals.
